Old versions of Flash, when you paste a symbol from another FLA you will face the message to replace or no the symbols. 
This plugin renames all symbols selected in the library, adding a prefix or suffix to them, solving the problem of duplicated symbol names.
Also, you can organize your library, change linkage and bitmap properties of more than one symbols at once and search for symbols in the library.

Add After

Open the Plugin by clicking Window/Other Panels/[T] Library Manager.
Select one or more symbols in the library.
Type the text to add.
Select the option "Add After".
Click on the Apply button.
Ex. The symbol in the library is "my_animation", you type "_cat". The new symbol name will be "my_animation_cat".


Add Before

Select one or more symbols in the library.
Type the text to add.
Select the option "Add Before".
Click on the Apply button.
Ex. The symbol in the library is "my_animation", you type "cat_". The new symbol name will be "cat_my_animation".

 

     
 

Number After

Select one or more symbols in the library.
Type the symbol name.
Select the "start with" number.
Select the option "Number After".
Click on the Apply button.
Ex. The symbols in the library are "my_animation", "my_movie", "my_graphic", you type "new_animation", start with 5. The new symbol names will be "new_animation5", "new_animation6", "new_animation7".


Number Before

Select one or more symbols in the library.
Type the symbol name.
Select the "start with" number.
Select the option "Number Before".
Click on the Apply button.
Ex. The symbols in the library are "my_animation", "my_movie", "my_graphic", you type "new_animation", start with 5. The new symbol names will be "5new_animation", "6new_animation", "7new_animation".

     
 

Delete Characters After

Select one or more symbols in the library.
Select the number of characters to delete.
Select the option "Delete After".
Click on the Apply button.
Ex. The symbols in the library are "my_animation", "my_movie", "my_graphic", number of characters to delete is 3. The new symbol names will be "my_animat", "my_mo", "my_grap".


Delete Characters Before

Select one or more symbols in the library.
Select the number of characters to delete.
Select the option "Delete Before".
Click on the Apply button.
Ex. The symbols in the library are "my_animation", "my_movie", "my_graphic", number of characters to delete is 3. The new symbol names will be "animation", "movie", "graphic".

Linkage Properties

Click on the "L" tab.
Select one or more symbols in the library.
Change the linkage properties the way you need.
Click on the Apply button.
The identifier field will be automatically assigned to the symbol name.

 

     
 

Bitmap Properties

Click on the "B" tab.
Select one or more symbols in the library.
Change the bitmap properties the way you need.
Click on the Apply button.

Searching for Symbols in the Library

Click on the "S" tab.
Type in the text field the symbol name or part of the symbol name you want to search for.
Select the type of search: "Contains", "Start With" or "End With".
Click on the Match Case check box, if needed.
You can filter the type of symbols you want to search by selecting the respective check boxes.
Click on the Apply button.
